About Us

The homelabour collective is a curatorial and artist alliance based in Bangalore and Goa by Advithi Emmi and Dhanya Rajaram. Our focus is on building communities around art and other creative practices.

We began as a small collective of three women, today we are curating a collective project with thirteen artists across India and other countries. We work with a focus on fostering collaborative practices amongst artists and communities.

The name Home labour Collective came about because we met at each other’s homes as part of our discourse meetings in 2024. Also, today our artists’ studios are often their own private space, their home. The name also plays on caregiving work done by women all over the world. It could also stand as a metaphor for birthing done at home. We also like how it can also read as Home Lab and Our Collective.

We look upon curation as an act of care and responsibility, where it in turn can encourage nurture and connectivity amongst artists and the larger world. We make space for art and artists, especially women, for self expression and connectivity. The Homelabour Collective is about the experience and stories of individual human beings, not only what aesthetic product they generate.
